Record the configuration that will actually enter the facility. Operators may use different class definitions, so a familiar passenger label is not enough for every route.

The output lists classification questions to carry to each facility—not an official class or rate.

Why classifications diverge

The same trip can create more than one class question

Axles are a common input, but an operator may also use vehicle type, trailer, weight, height, tire arrangement, commercial status, or another published category.

  • Count the full travel configuration, including a trailer.
  • Record whether the return trip uses the same vehicle and facilities.
  • Check the definition attached to the displayed rate—not only the price line.
  • Review unusual vehicles and commercial use with the specific operator.

Compare class questions across routes

A route with fewer facilities can still require more classification research if operators define vehicles differently.
